The Return Home

As I mentioned before, I’ve returned back to the land of western New York for a short visit.I took a red eye in Tuesday night so I’d get in early on Wednesday so have more time here. This also gave me the opportunity to stop by my old comic store, Seeley and Kane’s Books and Comics. I wanted to stop by and see how things were going since the previous owner passed away and my friend who used to work there took over ownership. It would also give me a good chance to see friends I hadn’t seen in a while since it was comic day and everyone was in picking up their comics for the week. It was great to see everyone and there was all the hanging out and discussing the recent titles and writers and artists that I have missed over the past couple years. There’s always the debate over what stories and characters we like right now and of course there was plenty of discussion over DC’s New 52. (I found out that a new Earth-2 comic for the JSA is coming up that I hadn’t been aware of so I’m glad they aren’t being forgotten.) My friend Mike is always a good source of information and opinions and we have some nice debates. One of them this week was over the handling of Moon Knight. He’s a recent reader of the book while I enjoy the history of the character. Mike also runs his own comic talk on his Think Twice internet radio show, It Came from the Longbox. Check it out. I’m going to miss hanging out with this crew but I’m glad I had a chance to for a while while I was back up here. As much as I love my store back home, it just doesn’t have the personalities for hanging out and chatting like the group in a smaller store that I have here in western New York.

But, for now, I’m off to enjoy the rest of my vacation, meet some friends for lunch, and just relax some. Have fun and maybe I’ll be back later this week for some more to say. I’m looking forward to being able to pick up my new books Monday and reading through those to see how things are looking this week.
