To Sony or Not to Sony?

Last month, Sony’s Playstation Network went down due to a hacker. Not long after, it was found that Sony Online Entertainment got hacked as well. Since then, both systems have been down. This means that internet gaming for the Playstation 3 as well as a lot of SOE’s games like Everquest, Everquest 2, DC Universe Online, Free Realms, Star Wars Galaxies, Magic the Gathering Tactics and more have been unplayable. They are planning some compensation for the down time but you have to wonder how badly this is going to affect the future of Sony’s game systems. I’m not saying their are going to be dead, but there’s a chance that this will put a definite dent in subscriptions, especially on some of the MMOs that are already waning. There’s a good chance that during this, people are going to be looking at other games to play. I had recently gotten back into Everquest 2 and it’s definitely frustrating that I can’t play. At least I have Portal 2 to play for now.
