I went to look up something and got searching and found out that more titles have by cancelled by DC. We’re only a year and a half into this great new universe… *snicker* OK. I can’t even say that with a straight face. (Excuse the pun…) I mean, for the numbers they were bragging about, in 18 months, they’ve cancelled SO MANY titles. Let’s look at things so far.

First wave of cuts:
Blackhawks, Hawk and Dove, Men of War, Mister Terrific, O.M.A.C., Static Shock

Second Wave of cuts:
Captain Atom, Justice League International, Resurrection Man, Voodoo

Third Wave of cuts:
Blue Beetle, Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E, G.I. Combat, Grifter, Legion Lost

And now we’re losing the following titles in a couple of months: Deathstroke, Fury of the Firestorm, The Savage Hawkman, Ravagers, Sword of Sorcery, Team 7. The real sad thing is that half of these books are titles replacing stuff from the first 2 waves of cuts. That’s also 17 titles of the original 52 which is 1/3 of the original launches failing in a year and a half. That’s insane. Not a good sign. Maybe DC should take a hint and go back to the “Old 52”. Give us back stuff like Wally West, the real Teen Titans, Jack Knight/Starman, a world less like Marvel where the population loved their heroes, a JLA with a cool history and long line of great members, and more. (I was thinking one time of creating a list of things I missed from the old universe. I wish I had done that so I’d have it right now.) I’m also wondering how there is going to be a Batman and Robin title with Robin dead.

I wonder what we’ll see coming up next and if they will keep trying to stick with 52 titles. I’d like to see Doom Patrol return. As much as I’d like to see Starman, we have Stargirl with the staff already in the JLA and I don’t want to see what evil they’d do. I’m guessing that the Freedom Fighters will get their own title given the 3 mini-series they’ve had with the characters already. I’m not sure what else I’d want to see right now. Let me know if you have any ideas.
