Did everyone have a good weekend? I did. Saturday before work, I headed over to the local comic shop for Free Comic Book Day and picked up a few interesting comics. I’ll post a list later on when I get a chance. Later that night, I joined my friends at a gamer party and we played the new Mortal Kombat game. I’ve been a big fan of the Mortal Kombat games for years but when I heard they were remaking the first game, I didn’t expect much but it was quite interesting. The X-Ray movies are quite interesting and majorly graphic. The Fatalities were interesting too. It’s tempting to pick it up. Sadly, as usual with this series, anyone who knows all the special moves wins easily. That’s the one thing that always pushed me to stuff like Tekken and Soul Calibur.

Then on Sunday, I went to the Magic the Gathering pre-release for the new expansion, New Phyrexia. I didn’t win anything but I did get a few good cards on top of the promo card. Plus, I had fun and met some cool guys. There should be some interesting cards. The set comes out this Friday, May 13. It’s the final set of the current block. To be honest, a lot of the current block isn’t that great and I’m over the “infect” bit that’s permeated the 3 sets. I’m looking forward to what the next one will be about. Still, I’ll enjoy opening the packs of my pre-ordered box. That’s always fun no matter what.
